I did it again.
Once again, I’ve gone on an all-night binge of crime information archives.

Spent the last ~9 hours reading through cases of serial killers and unsolved murders and disappeared people, and as always, my mind is now traveling through some very dark places, full of bodies in landfills and bones rotting in the wilderness and where you can just turn a corner and vanish and no one, no one, will ever find out what happened to you or even if you’re alive or dead.

Why the fuck do I do this to myself.

Stunned...
So, they say Nintendo Power is coming to an end.

I've been getting that magazine monthly since I was five years old. It's going to be strange not having it to look forward to anymore.

I almost feel grief-stricken, like I've lost a member of my family or something.

I have the best boyfriend ever...
For one of my birthday presents, he sent me a ton of pictures of him and his other boyfriend posing, kissing, and generally having sexyfuntimes with each other while they were crossdressing in stockings and panties.

UNGH. So happy. *fans self*

I must be really horny...
That's the only explanation I can think of for the dream I just had. I dreamt I was at a place that was like a combination college dorm/beach hotel. It was Swingers' Week, and everyone was walking around naked, having sex with anyone pretty much wherever they wanted, stuff like that. I came with my girlfriend, and ran into people like my old college roommate. A lot of fun was had, but the dream ended with me being the last to leave the suite, so I had to do all the cleaning up from all the sexual romps.

When I will learn that going on giant archive binges of true crime stories are not a good way to settle my nerves? *wraps blanket around self*

Where did THAT come from?
Another of those "the hell triggered that" dreams. I dreamed my house was invaded by Mogwai and I had to take them out before they could reproduce too much or turn into Gremlins. I ended up having to chase the last one all the way to the grocery store (and of course no one else was there); I ended up locking it in some big freezer. But that wasn't the end of it, because then I went back home and cleaned up the mess. Talk about an anti-climactic end.

Another weird dream
I dreamed that I got lost in downtown Columbia and was traveling all over the city via its subway system.

Of course, Columbia doesn't HAVE a subway system, but that didn't stop me from creating a very complex one in my head.

Just a thought...
If you don't like RPs with mostly porn and little to no plot, maybe you shouldn't offer to play a character who is a sex addict.

I mean, sheesh.

Well, that took long enough.
I finally finished a story on FF.net that's sat uncompleted for almost 9 years. (It's a little Spider-Man fic about the Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin, in case you're interested: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1011473/5/ ).

Think of it as a slightly early, reverse birthday present, from me to you. ;) My birthday's on Monday, so enjoy.

Justice system puzzler
The recent massacre in Oslo got me thinking about this. Why does it seem like so many countries have a cap on how long your sentence can be? I can understand not having a death penalty, but it seems insane that someone can kill dozens or hundreds of people and be let out. Some crimes deserve a life sentence, not just out of punishment or retribution but to keep the community safe.

Writer's Block: Behind the wheel
If you could have any vehicle (a helicopter, sports car, space ship, yacht, etc.) and a free place to park it, what would you choose, and why?

A DeLorean, as specially modified by one Emmett L. Brown.

Would you live in the perfect house or apartment rent-free if you found out a brutal murder had taken place there and it was rumored to be haunted? Why or why not?

Probably not. I wouldn't care about it being "haunted," but I'd probably never be able to get the thought out of my head that someone had died here, violently and traumatically. I'd always be reliving their last horrible moments in my head. It would be bad enough if it had happened peacefully...

*frothing rage*
So, at dinner, I had the misfortune to be seated behind four incredible rednecks, the type who are responsible for a lot of the Southern stereotypes you see most everywhere.

Here's a small sampling of some of the things I overheard them talking about, with all apparent seriousness:

*A gay cowboy joke, ending with the punchline "they're all out hanging a queer."
*Making fun of the recent Japanese tsunami.
*Their belief that the uprisings in many parts of the Muslim world are secretly backed by al-Qaeda with the goal of taking over the world.
*Their belief that Obama is "probably" a secret Muslim.

In memoriam
My grandfather passed away yesterday. He'd been in bad shape and receiving home hospice care for a while, so it wasn't really a shock; we knew it was coming sooner or later. But it still hurts to have him gone.

Kitty Safety 101
I'd gotten a collar and tag for Pringles, the cat at the sheriff's office where I work, and today I put them on her. She likes to roam around outside our perimeter sometimes, and I didn't want anyone thinking she was a stray. I could tell she wasn't very happy about it, but she'll get used to it, and it'll help keep her safe, which is the most important thing when it comes to kitties.

It was Lincoln's dumbest idea, with the possible exception of letting McClellan command anything larger than a picnic.

Samhain: Year One, Day Four
OK, so this is the first year when I (and hopefully anyone who's still reading this journal) will celebrate the full Samhain, The Festival Of Darkness as I have envisioned it.

Finally, on November 2nd, is Día De Los Muertos. As I said in my original Samhain post, "On this night, we take time to remember those gone, and how life and death intertwine and affect each other."

So go out there in memory of those who can't. The Dark Star decrees it.

Samhain: Year One, Day Three
OK, so this is the first year when I (and hopefully anyone who's still reading this journal) will celebrate the full Samhain, The Festival Of Darkness as I have envisioned it.

Third, on November 1st, is All Saints' Day. As I said in my original Samhain post, "On this night, we muse on the contrast of light and darkness, good and evil, and how they're necessary to each other."

So go out there and meditate about the balance of the universe. The Dark Star decrees it.
